Why would Medicare Supplement plans be popular?
1. Seniors who travel usually have the additional income to afford a Medicare Supplement Plan because there is no network. And they like the ability to see any doctor who will accept Original Medicare.
2. Medicare Supplement Plans do not operate like an HMO. You do not have to pick a primary care physician "PCP" to coordinate your specialists.
3. No referral needed to see a specialist.
4. NOTE: Seniors on Medicare Supplement Plans will need to pay separately for their Prescription Drug Part "D" Rx plan.
To qualify for "Extra Help" with the high cost of medications the Low Income Subsidy program was created.
If you make less than $1,300 per month, you may qualify for this program.
Seniors who are struggling to pay the high cost of medication get turned down by the State Medicaid program. The rising cost of medications along with the cost of rent and food, are sending many seniors to the State for help only to be turned down. The State tells them they have to spend down to qualify. The State doesn't tell them about the other programs they are entitled to. "Extra Help" Low Income Subsidy. Called - "LIS"
